Chrissy Teigen Inspired: Oven Baked Zucchini Fries & Sriracha Ranch

Cravings is finally here, and we can't put it down!! For those out of the loop, model/t.v. personality/instagram and twitter star Chrissy Teigen has just released her highly anticipated cookbook, Cravings, and it is EVERYTHING you want to eat.  This cookbook is nothing like you'd expect, and everything you need to spice up your palate.  Filled with delushious recipes, genuine humor, and cuss words, this book is sugar, spice, and everything we love about Chrissy.  We cannot wait to cook our way through this book, Julie & Julia style!  1st up, these baked zucchini fries inspired by Chrissy's Baked Zucchini Fries & Sriracha Mayo.  This recipe includes homemade bread crumbs, the addition of garlic powder, parsley, lemon pepper, paprika (for cayenne), and ranch (for mayo).  Just like chicken wings, the breading combinations are (and forever will be) endless.  Explore, create, and let us know what you come  up with in the comments!

-For Bread crumbs

1.  Preheat oven to 425°F.  Bake bread ends for 10-15 minutes until golden brown and crispy throughout.

 -For Bread crumbs

5-6 bread ends

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp parsley flakes

1 tsp lemon pepper

-For Fries

1 1/4 C flour

1/2 tsp Paprika

3 eggs

1 1/4 C grated parmesan cheese

2.  If using a food processor, combine baked bread, garlic salt, lemon pepper, and parsley until your achieve your desired bread crumb consistency.  No food processor, no worries.  Crumbing bread by hand or using a mortar & pestle.  Combine bread and spices until there is an even distribution.  FYI, a few bread chucks increase crispiness!  Pop back in the oven for another 5-10 minutes.

1 medium zucchini (ends trimmed, halved, and quartered lengthwise)

1 tsp himalayan pink salt

1 tsp freshly ground black pepper

1 1/4 C bread crumbs

2 tbsp EVOO

-For Dipping Sauce

1/2 C ranch dressing

1/4 C sriracha sauce (or to taste)

-For Fries

We followed Chrissy's  3 bowl technique step by step on to achieve the perfect crispiness for our Oven Baked Zucchini fries

Needed: 3 bowls large enough to roll your zukes

Bowl #1: Combine flour, salt, paprika

Bowl #2: Whisk eggs

Bowl #3: Combine bread crumbs, parmesan, and oil (Zucchinis where pre-oiled for this recipe)

The Technique

"One at a time, roll zucchini in flour mixture, shaking off the excess. Next dip the zucchini in egg, letting the egg soak into the flour-coated zucchini. Then dip in the bread crumbs, pressing on all sides to coat, and arrange on a baking sheet. Bake until golden and crispy, 20-25 minutes." - via (Chrissy Teigen)

They turn out perfect! Almost giving mozzarella sticks a run for their money.

-For Dipping Sauce

Combine ranch dressing with sriracha until you reach your desired level of spiciness.
